The White House falls somewhere between a boutique hotel and a garden resort. The lobby is arranged around a plant-filled courtyard, with all sorts of interesting old Thai furniture, and further towards the beach is a pleasantly low-key spa and a sky-blue pool, surrounded by red-tiled villas containing the suite rooms. Huge jungle plants burst out of pots along the path to the beach and someone has put some serious thought and consideration into the interiors. Service is faultless; fresh fruit and flowers await you in your room when you check in. It's very intimate and romantic and well worth the price tag.

Water sports are easily accessed in front of the resort. Ruean Sai Lom Restaurant is located between the beach and the pool. Tables are made private with the clever use of drapes and hangings. The restaurant serves Thai and international cuisine daily. The Four Seasons is located on the first floor and provides buffet breakfast daily. The White House spa has two private areas, a spa tub and sauna. A range of Thai and European massages, facials and body treatments are offered.
Guestrooms. The generously-proportioned guestrooms have air conditioning, cable/satellite televisions, minibars and in-room safes. Bathrooms have showers and hair dryers.
Expert Tip. Wat Nuan Naram is a newly- completed Buddhist temple and cultural center at nearby Plai Laem Village. The ornately decorated buildings reflect in the lake surrounding them.
